Structure and Components

  1. Pressure-resistant Shell: 316L stainless steel (standard), titanium alloy, FRPP, or rubber-lined steel; designed to withstand operating pressure and corrosion.

  2. Ceramic Membrane Elements: Multi-channel/single-channel tubular or flat-sheet types; materials include α-Al₂O₃, ZrO₂, TiO₂, and SiC.

  3. Flower Plate / Tubesheet: Secures membrane elements, segregates feed/concentrate from permeate, and prevents cross-contamination.

  4. Sealing System: O-rings / conical seals (FKM, EPDM, PTFE); high temperature and chemical resistance to prevent leakage.

  5. Inlet/Outlet Connections: Flanges or clamps; compatible with piping systems and standards.

Mainstream Classification & Specifications

  1. Multi-channel Tubular Modules (Most Common)

    • Core count series: 1, 3, 7, 19, 37, 61, 99 elements; membrane length: 250–1200 mm.

    • Flow direction: Inside-out / Outside-in; operating pressure: 0.3–1.0 MPa; temperature resistance: typically ≤120°C.

  2. Flat-sheet Modules: Suitable for high-solid-content feed liquids; individual sheets replaceable for flexible maintenance; commonly made of SiC/Al₂O₃ composite.

  3. By Application:

    • Industrial Grade: For highly corrosive chemical processes.

    • Sanitary Grade: For food and pharmaceutical applications, autoclavable at 121°C.

Core Technical Parameters (Critical for Selection)

  1. Total Effective Membrane Area (m²/module): Single element area × number of elements.

  2. Nominal Pore Size / Molecular Weight Cut-off (MWCO): Microfiltration 0.1–1 μm, Ultrafiltration 20–100 nm.

  3. Operating / Maximum Pressure, and Trans-membrane Pressure (TMP) control range.

  4. Long-term / Short-term Temperature Resistance and pH tolerance range.

  5. Pure Water Flux (at 25°C, 0.1 MPa) and flux decline curve under operating conditions.

  6. Backwash / Chemical Cleaning Recovery Rate: >90% is considered excellent.

  7. Shell / Seal Material, Connection Standards, and Installation Dimensions.

Selection & Procurement Tips

  1. Clearly define feed liquid conditions: temperature, pH, solid content, viscosity, and corrosivity. For highly corrosive applications, prioritize ZrO₂/SiC membranes with titanium alloy or FRPP shells.

  2. Compare flux and pressure drop under standardized conditions (25°C, 0.1 MPa pure water) and request pilot test data.

  3. Ensure sealing materials are compatible with the feed liquid to avoid swelling and leakage; sanitary-grade products must comply with 3A and FDA standards.

  4. Verify warranty period, cleaning protocols, and spare parts supply lead times.
